In my free time, I love to cycle long distances on road and on gravel. In 2022, I biked across the United States from San Diego, CA to St. Augustine, FL. I have also biked from Geneva Switzerland to Hamburg Germany and from Washington DC to Pittsburgh. My latest endeavor was biking across New York State on the Erie Canal.

My love for the outdoors began with hiking, and it escalated after my first long distance backpacking trip in Spain on the Camino de Santiago. I have thru hiked the Long Trail from MA to Canada, and during my time in New York, I have hiked all 46 high peaks in the Adirondacks.

Over my lifetime, I have always found ways to incorporate art in my life. In high school, I painted a wall mural in the library, and in college I painted another mural on the wall of the Field Station. I have taken many classes including photography, ceramics, fiber dyeing, and painting. My current expression of art is in the form of nature and landscape watercolors.

In 2022, I created a personal blog called This Footprint to write about my outdoor recreation activities (physical footprints) as well as my interests in environmentalism (i.e. carbon footprint). This blog lead to me taking journalism classes and publishing articles in open magazines. I look forward to continuing scientific outreach and communication through my growing interest in journalism.
